QLD Sidecar Happenings - from Dave Warne PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 22 September 2008 10:00

It has been a great past fortnight with two excellent meetings at Qld Raceway and also the QLD Titles at Warwick.

Thanks to everyone for the support and contributions to the Doug Chivas Fire Appeal. The total raised was $2,810.00 which Mick Alton has taken back to Sydney to give to Doug this week. I have just spoken with Doug and he expressed his deepest thanks to all. (If there is anyone who missed out on the raffle but would like to contribute, we are still taking donations).

The Qld Raceway meeting saw Paul Jacobs debut the ex-Treasure LCR. Although he was running in a new engine, Paul showed he will be a force in future with consistent wins throughout the 2 day meeting. Michael Hickman, Tony Jacobs and Dave Buxton all ensured that Paul earned every win.

Also debuting was passenger Terri Boughen, who teamed up with Tony Jacobs. Her excitement at finishing in front of father Dave and mum Dianne was obvious. Well done Terri !

At the Warwick meeting Mick Alton has again won the QLD Title. "Congratulations Mick, but that should remain up here !!" Paul Jacobs was always right there at every turn but an unfortunate spin out reduced his point score to achieve a very credible second place. The racing was fierce and spectacular with Michael Hickman finishing in third place. Paul picked up the track record with an impressive high 1:09. The racing by the classic boys was just as exciting with Donah, Dean, Wood, Bennett and Hirst putting on a real display of close dicing.

Of concern was Tony Jacobs who took ill after one of the races. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to his return to the track.

As a final note, we hope to see you at the QLD Sidecar Show on the 4th of Oct at the Shearers Arms Tavern, Ormeau where we will draw the raffle for Doug. (There is still plenty of display areas available to exhibit your sidecar and win some great prizes). Hope to see you there.

With Best Regards,
Davo
