The Formula-Xtreme web site story continues: 2002 World Sidecar Champions Steve Abbott and Jamie Biggs, will compete in all 5 rounds of the 2005 Australian Sidecar Championships. Steve officially confirmed his intentions today and will compete on a brand new LCR - Suzuki GSXR 1000 sponsored by an Australian company Aircom Systems Pty Limited. Managing Director of Aircom Systems, Mr Brett Gilbert said that he was looking forward to bringing a World Championship Team to compete in the Australian Sidecar Series. “It can only benefit everyone involved in our sport and I am sure that the promoters won’t mind an ex World Champion competing at these events” added Gilbert. Both Steve and Jamie first visited Australia in 2001 for the World Championship round at Phillip Island only to be cancelled by bad weather. They are looking forward to coming out and competing against some fine local talent who will include former Australian Champions Shane Soutar, new comers Adam Treasure and the evergreen Doug Chivas.
