2002 Sidecar World Champions Steve Abbott and Jamie Biggs are heading back down under to compete in the final round of the 2005 Aircom Systems Australian Sidecar Championships to be held at Phillip Island 11 – 13 November 2005.

abbott_back.jpgRiding their sponsored LCR Suzuki for Team Aircom Castrol, Abbott and Biggs are currently on top of the series table with 228 points, however there is a number of Aussie teams just waiting to pounce. Mick Alton and Mark Patterson (217) are within 11 points behind the likeable English pairing, while the unfortunate result for Steve Hutchinson and Darren Dewhurst (195 points) at the last round where a stone got caught in the brake calipers and forced them out of the race sees them down the ladder in third place. There is then a gaggle of teams fighting it out for the minor placings – Chivas / Johnson (191), Jones / Budarick (187), Treasure / Cornwall (181) and Bruce / Leak (160).

Another team that had a slow start to the season but have come home strong is Shane Souter and Jeff Rowe. (140 points) Riding for Adams Print on an LCR GSXR 1000 Suzuki, they were the last round winners at the Queensland raceway. With Phillip Island being Shanes home track, don’t be surprised to see this pair at the pointy end of the field come Sunday afternoon.

All in all it looks like a great season finale. If you can’t make it to the track follow all the action on the series web site www.formula-xtreme.com.au .
